    Description

This is an functioning antique safe (with combination) which also has an old advertisement poster attached to the back of the safe.
The safe and poster are most likely from 1885 because the patents on the lock dial are from 1871-1880 and the poster on the back of the safe refers to a "New Orleans Exposition" which presumably was the World Cotton Centennial in New Orleans, LA from 1884 to 1885 . Therefore, the safe, lock, and poster are probably from 1885—136 years old.
The safe was built by York Safe & Lock Co. York, PA; and the lock on the door was made by Yale Lock Manufacturing Co. Stamford, CT.
The outside dimensions of the safe are 22" wide, 22" deep, and 34.5" tall.
The inside dimensions are 10" wide, 11.5" deep, and 15.5" tall.
The poster on the back is 16" wide and 22" tall.
The weight of the safe is unknown, but it is extremely heavy (the sides are 6" thick).
The safe would need to be picked up in Windham, NH unless the buyer arranges shipping.
The listing could end any time since it is listed for sale locally on Craigslist.
The following is a transcription of the poster:
