1979 Lancia Beta Coupe, Estate Coupe & Zagato lot of (2) original vintage advertisements.
    DESCRIPTION:
    Lancia - rara avis.
The Lancia plant in Torino produces a mere three hundred or so cars a day, barely a hiccough for most car makers. If the idea of a personal touring car appeals to you, and you are one of those rare birds who still care about the fine points in car building, Lancia is for you.
Each Lancia Beta is made with personal care: metal hand-sanded and buffed, paint layers hand polished, each and
every car taken for a test drive, drenched in the "rain room”.
One person in twenty on the production line checks against flaws. The 1979 Lancia Beta has a 2-litre engine, larger than in previous Beta’s. Front wheel drive makes fun of Canadian winters; power assisted discs on all four wheels for secure braking; new graduated power steering works full force when you are at rest, diminishes as you
speed up so you feel the road at highway speeds.
Air conditioning is standard. So are the sexy-soft leather bucket seats, wiring and speakers for stereo, clock, 5-speed transmission, tinted glass and all the amenities. About all you can add is metallic paint, sun roof and automatic transmission.
The Lancia Beta Coupe, with air conditioning, leather seats and other sybaritic niceties lists for around ,000. Dealers may sell for more or less.
The uncommon new Lancia - 2 litre vigour, seductive luxury.
Attention individualists: now there are three Lancias — the Beta Coupe, the Estate Coupe and the stunning new Zagato. All with common sense front wheel drive. Lancia's restless engineers have slipped a peppy 2-litre engine under the hood. Air conditioning, leather bucket seats, variable power steering, power assisted disc brakes, five speed transmission, stereo wiring and speakers are all standard. About all you can add is automatic transmission, sun roof and metallic finish.
If you don't like to run with the pack, one of the new Lancias may be just for you. A limited number will be imported in '79. It is unlikely your neighbour or your Uncle Arthur will turn up driving one.
Every Lancia is a gem, hand buffed, almost fanatically quality controlled. As part of its test run, each Lancia is driven for a few moments at maximum speed: with the new 2-litre engine, that's over 100 mph (165 kmph) in the 1979 Beta Coupe, Estate Coupe and Zagato.
Of course, a 2-litre engine will not blow anybody off tne road. But Lancia's engineers believe its extra power has a synergistic effect on all the car's workings, makes everything function a little better. Even gas mileage
has improved. With five speed transmission, the Lancia delivers a combined 46 km per gal., 56 on the highway and 41 city, based on Transport Canada test methods. Actual consumption will vary.
Lancia's front-wheel drive pulls you around corners and through Canadian Snow. All Lancias are protected by a 3 year (120,000 km) corrosion perforation warranty. The efficient disc brakes on all four wheels are
power assisted. Suspension is independent all around. The precise Lancia is the optimum way from A to B.
Lancia's new power steering is variable: lets you park with a light touch, diminishes with speed so that on the highway it feels like direct steering. You feel the road.
Lancia's engineers have acknowledged that the North American is tall and have allowed for more headroom. The bucket seats were designed by spine specialists. They are upholstered in soft, pliant leather. Semi-bucket in the back too. Tilt-adjustable steering wheel. Full instrumentation includes tachometer, digital clock, voltmeter. The wiring and speakers for stereo are already installed. All you need is the receiver.
The Lancia Beta Coupe lists for around ,000, the Estate Coupe for about ,000 and the new Zagato for about ,000. All with air conditioning, variable power steering and leather seats. Automatic is extra. Dealers may sell for more or less.
The Lancia Beta Coupe — is aerodynamically efficient, without excess body fat, the new Beta demonstrates that a car that is careful with fuel can still be luxurious and soul satisfying. A test drive will communicate the non-verbal handling characteristics.
The Lancia Estate Coupe with its new 2-litre engine, is a versatile country companion. The back opens, the rear seat folds down to tote 2x4’s or antiques. The front-wheel drive makes fun of gravel or snow-covered roads.
The Lancia Zagato. At last a convertible sporting car as comfortable as a sedan. And with sensible front wheel drive. There is room in the back for extra passengers or the family dog. Only a few of these rare beauties will be imported into Canada in 1979. Be warned.
